Focus on Healing

After the surgery, I am left to heal. To take time off from work, from responsibilities and focus solely on healing. This time I am filled with hope, and with such good reason. My mom spent the last few days caring for me and making sure I had food to last me while I'm off. I will now have the time to focus on me and my health. It feels like a new beginning. I plan to read, and write and work on this blog. I always feel the best way to allow yourself to feel better is to make yourself get out of bed, put some make up on and soak in some sun. It truly does wonders for your spirit.

Thank you to all for your well wishes. I am feeling well and getting plenty of rest. My birthday is quickly approaching and I'm hoping to be better and healed by then! Hope to celebrate with you all :)

Back to Basics

This weekend I spent some time with my amazing parents. They rode out the storm (Hurricane Harvey) and thankfully, did not see any damage to their home. Unfortunately, some our neighbors, friends and family were not as fortunate. I am not from Houston, so to speak, but it's my adopted home. I moved there when I was 15, and moved from home when I was 19. I met lifelong friends, and the city has a big contribution to the shape of me, as a person. Driving around the city and seeing the devastation of the restaurants we frequent, neighborhoods of old friends, and businesses near our home, broke my heart. My mom and I did our best to collect donations and help the community as much as we could. It truly does not feel like enough. It's our time to rally together to help all of those affected. At the bottom, is a link of some local charities if you would like to donate.
